DataSource Editor

The gateway to connecting to your Cloud Data Warehouse

All of your configurations for all of your DataSources will be performed via this single Editor:

ClearFactrDataSourceEditor-1

Existing DataSources are shown alphabetically based on their Name, which you control. The DataSource name becomes the first property of every CFSQL call.

The Type field is where you specify the vendor of your Cloud Data Warehouse. Any given ClearFactr model can support connections to any number of CDWs simultaneously.

The Auth Type offers two choices: Username/Password, and OAuth.  Choose the one that matches the authentication method corresponding to your credentials. As the example shows, you can have multiple DataSources within a single vendor. These are simply differentiated by the credential fields:

  • Username/Password
  • OAuth ClientID / Oauth Client Secret

Note the '?' button to the left of the Password/Secret field. You can use this to temporarily reveal the value.

Copy/Pasting into these credentials fields is encouraged and they are always case-sensitive.

The Comments field can be used to further describe the DataSource, allowing you to keep the names shorter.

Buttons

  • New: Creates a new, unsaved DataSource from scratch, wiping out all of the existing field values
  • Clone: This creates a new, unsaved DataSource as a copy from your currently selected one.
  • Test: This is a necessary step in the case of an OAuth DataSource. During the Test process, you'll be asked to authenticate in a separate window, launched automatically by ClearFactr in coordination with your Cloud Data Warehouse vendor. While this process is underway, the Test Status field will update automatically. The corresponding Cancel Test button will interrupt the processing.
  • Save: Creates or replaces the named DataSource with the current values in the Editor.
  • Delete: Permanently removes this selected DataSource from your customer account. Extreme caution should be used with this feature as it can disable queries being used by models. A report to warn of what models would be affected by this is forthcoming.
  • Help: Launches this page in a separate window.
