Permissions for All

For users with write capabilities, you can still pump the brakes:

1. Individual cells can be designated as editable, instantly rendering the rest of the model read-only.
2. Alternatively, you can designate cells as protected, with two variations:
   1. One ensures that no cell which controls the value of the protected cell can be changed -- business logic (formulaic cells) or inputs.
   2. The other mode allows input cells to be changed, but not the formulaic ones. 

With this second alternative, other portions of the model, including entire compute chains that don't control the protected cells, remaining completely editable. Thus, you get the best of the freeform spreadsheet experience combined with the security and assurance of finely-crafted custom software.
